Thien A Sandwiches is reigning supreme in terms of Vietnamese in Midtown. I enjoyed everything we had. Bahn xeo- is huge. Was super filling with all the vegetables. Savory and crispy. Bahn mi bo kho- rich, thick beefy soup with chunks of root vegetables and tender meat. So cozy and well spiced Pho baby with meat- wanted a smaller pho so I could eat more food! The broth was so good and it was the perfect amount so I could eat other things! It’s a humble establishment that punches above its weight! Bahn cuon thit cha- wow so good. Highly recommend. Light, nice rice noodle with a soft texture.

Loved this no frills restaurant. It has a diner feel but the food was better than diner quality. We enjoyed their Bahn Xeo and Bun Bo Hue. Their Duck Salad was also really tasty with lean and tender meat and a mountain of cabbage. Highly recommend!

An authentic Vietnamese restaurant with a classic feel and delicious food. The banh xeo is fantastic as expected, and the bun thit nuong is delicious (though the meat amount was less than I hoped for). The prices are fair and they have a good range of choices of dishes. The banh xeo is definitely the dish to try here! Haven’t tried the banh mi yet but will plan to!

This is legit Vietnamese food. The space is huge. Service was actually great for an Asian restaurant. The banh xeo is ginormous. The banh cuon, pho and bun bo hue were all very flavorful. We didn’t have a bad dish at all. All the portions are so large. We had a lot of leftover. The prices are very reasonable too. The food came out SO quickly. Plenty of parking available. I came back a week later and will be back again. My only complaint are the napkins. They are the worst napkins any restaurant can have. They’re so thin and small it takes about 5 napkins for 1 wipe.

I came in to pick up togo. Restaurant was easy to find, plenty of parking, roomy, comfortable and service was great. I ordered 5 banh mi , shrimp and pork spring rolls (goi cuon), a Ca phe sua đa (Vietnamese coffee) che ba mau and che sam bo luong. I prefer non-fusion viet restaurants and this place was on point. My only disappointment was the amount of protein that was in the sandwiches, but I’ll definitely be back.

So good. The banh mi is awesome. The place is packed at lunch but service is so fast. Everyone is so nice. The Cha Gio is fantastic as well. Would recommend!

Thien An Sandwiches has solidified its place as my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town. Over my decade-long career as a food channel host, I've explored numerous traditional Vietnamese establishments in Houston, but Thien A stands out with its unique offerings. The Vietnamese-style pancake with seafood is an absolute delight, a must-have that keeps me coming back to downtown whenever the craving strikes. It's unparalleled in size, quality, and affordability. Their duck salad featuring farm-fresh ingredients is a recent discovery, and the distinct texture and flavor of the meat make it a standout dish. The eggrolls are a crispy delight, perfectly balanced with a thin batter that enhances the overall experience. The beef combination is bursting with flavor, showcasing their commitment to quality. Not to be overlooked is their passionfruit tea, boasting an intense flavor that never fails to impress. Thien An Sandwiches consistently exceeds expectations, making it one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in downtown Houston, if not the entire city. I wholeheartedly recommend it and look forward to returning again and again. Bravo to Thien An for delivering an exceptional dining experience!
